March 28, 1918 - September 15, 2020
Tamotsu (Tam) Nakazawa: devoted and remarkable father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2020.
Tam is survived by his children Tom, Gayle (Jack), Bonnie, Bobby (Val) and Patty (Trent), 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his brother Isao. He has left us to join his wife Kay, of 69 years, who he missed dearly after her passing in May of 2019. They are off together on a new set of adventures.
Tam was a simple man who had one main rule - you take care of your family. Whether that was as a father making sure his family was cared for, as a grandfather looking out for his grandchildren, as a young boy working to help his parents when times were tough or as a brother protecting his siblings.
There was nothing Tam wouldn't do for his family - We love you Dad!
Tam had a twinkle in his eye and a mischievousness in his personality that endeared him to everyone he encountered. He could often be found chatting and laughing with a person and when asked who that was, he would reply, "I don't know them."
Tam had an amazing work ethic, he would come home from his physically demanding job at the CO-OP mill to work just as hard on the fruit farm that Tam and Kay were so proud of.
When he retired in 1982 it was a great joy, to the entire family, to see him finally relax and enjoy life. Tam and Kay would take bus trips to Reno, walk to town to buy a lottery ticket or putter around the garden growing fresh vegetables and fruit for the family.
We can never express enough gratitude to his daughter Bonnie who dedicated the last 12 years of her life to taking care of both mom and dad, allowing them to live out their lives at home. Our sincerest appreciation to Dr. Sawatsky-Martens and the care givers from Interior Health for their care and kindness in looking after our father.
Due to COVID restrictions a private family service will be held at Bowers Funeral Home.
