Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Thelma Noreen Swain (nee Scullard) passed away peacefully on November 3, 2009 at Hillside Village Care Facility in Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 94.

Thelma was born December 25, 1915 (a Christmas baby) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She moved to Vancouver, BC with her parents, three brothers and a sister, as a young girl.

Thelma married Basil Palmer Swain in 1939 and settled in Langley, BC where they proudly raised four daughters. They moved to Salmon Arm, BC in 1973. Basil passed away in 1986 at the age of 68 years.

A loving and devoted mother, Thelma is survived by her four daughters, Judi Reglin (Warren Gagne) Diane Neufeld (Orville), Patty Kirk (Roly), Sharon Wilhelms (Milt) and seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and her brother Donald.

Thelma was an avid gardener and her green thumb earned her numerous prizes at garden shows in Langley, BC and Salmon Arm, BC.

She loved to paint and was a member of the Salmon Arm Art Society. Thelma also played golf and bowled.

The family wishes to acknowledge the loving and compassionate care provided by the staff at Hillside Village, Cottage #5 where Thelma lived the last year of her life.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
