December 17, 1936 - February 16, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Dave McMillan. He died quite suddenly and unexpectedly after being admitted into the Salmon Arm Hospital with pneumonia. He slipped away peacefully in his sleep with his wife at his side and the loving words of his children and grandchildren in his ear.

Dave was born in 1936 in England and grew up as an only child. He spent his early years in the English countryside during WWII and his school years at a boarding school in Scotland. In later years, he attended agricultural college. At the age of 19, he set off on a new adventure to Canada travelling by boat across the Atlantic. He settled in Prince George, B.C. and began working for the Government of Canada at the experimental farm. It was in Prince George where he met his wife, Lynne. They married in 1971 and had two children. In the 1960s, Dave began a 32-year career working for Canfor Pulp and Paper Mill until his retirement.

Dave made many friends and good memories in the time he lived in Prince George. He enjoyed the outdoor life P.G. had to offer, fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking, and skiing. Being fit was important to him. He often participated in biking events, marathons, skating and cross-country skiing events.

After retirement, he and Lynne relocated to acreage in Grindrod, B.C. on the Shuswap River where Dave was able to pursue his hobbies, including gardening, swimming, wine-making, and cross-country skiing.

Dave is survived by his widow, Lynne, his children, Caroline and Doug, and grandchildren, Ella, Connor, and Brandon. He will be dearly missed.

A memorial will be held at the Bowers Funeral Chapel in Salmon Arm on February 22 at 10:00 am.
