It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Violet, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Violet passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side in Penticton, BC at Haven Hill Retirement Centre. Predeceased by husband William (Bill), son Gary Wayne, father and mother Alfred and Inga Olson, brothers Don and Gordon Olson. Bill and Vi were both born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, moved to BC in 1963 and lived in Kitimat, Terrace, Nass Camp, Nanaimo and spent their senior years in Salmon Arm where Bill was ice maker for the Curling Club. Violet was a talented fashion designer/seamstress. She was a member of the Order of the Royal Purple for 45 years. She is survived by her four daughters: Gayle Olson, Judy Sylvester, Cindy (Clint) Fiske, Bonnie (Doug) Austen, grandsons: Monte and Gary Sylvester, Tyler and Travis Bilton, Rod (Michele) Mackinnon, great-granddaughters: Chloe and Sarah Mackinnon, sisters: Edna Flohr, Elsie Ray, Angie Waldner, Allie (Tyke) Ames, sisters-in-law Maxine Olson and Glenda Olson and numerous nieces and nephews all very dear to her. An intimate family service was held in April. A “Celebration of Life” for Violet will be held on June 5th, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Elks Hall in Salmon Arm.
