Nov 25, 1931 - Apr 20, 2018
With heavy hearts we said goodbye to Vivian Luella Ballard on Friday, April 20, 2018. While on paper Vivian was 86 years old she was extremely young at heart.

Vivian was born in Athabasca on November 25, 1931 and was the fourth child of George and Christina Johnson. Vivian married Donald Ballard on January 28, 1954 and together they had 4 children: Donna, Debra, Darlene and Lori. Vivian & Don started their married life in Atmore and then moved to the Parkview area in 1957. They stayed on the farm until 1972 when they moved to Salmon Arm, BC. They opened a stationery store and Vivian went to work at Mainline Coop. Vivian worked at Mainline Coop until 1988. In 1992 they moved from Salmon Arm to Kelowna. In 2005 they decided to move back to Athabasca which is where she resided until her death.

Vivian is survived by her 4 daughters: Donna (Mark); Debra; Darlene and Lori (Tom). She has 8 grandchildren: Jason, Tanya, Tyler, Jolene, Ryley, Jas, Aimee and Kyley. Her 14 great grandchildren: Brennen, Morgan, Teagen, Jonah, Addy, Ellie, Paige, Mykai, Jordan, Damian, McKenna, Emerson, Will and Ethan.

Her sisters: Esther (Art) Page and Lillian Thomson, her brother: Ralph (Connie) Johnson and her nephews/nieces: Blaine, Ronald, Gordon, Becky and Mason. She was predeceased by her husband Don; her sister Evelyn, her brother Lloyd and her parents George & Christina Johnson.

At her request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Athabasca Palliative Care Unit or the Athabasca Hospital Auxiliary. The family sincerely thanks all of the nursing staff at the Athabasca Hospital who made the stay in the Palliative Care unit so comfortable and for all the loving care they gave to Mom.

We would like to ask, in her memory, that everyone play their favourite song and have a dance for our mom. Mom's joy, besides her family, was her cards, her singing and most importantly her dancing. If there was music playing Mom was dancing.
