Walter was born in Beechy, Saskatchewan on November 12th, 1929. As a young man he loved working on his Uncle Clint’s farm, where he drove a tractor. He took his schooling in Beechy, and then moved with his family to Saskatoon in 1945. From there he went to his first big job at a sawmill in Wimbley Alberta. He met and married Helen Arthurs in Saskatoon on July 28th, 1951. He worked as a truck driver in Saskatoon, from there moved to Vancouver and worked as a carpenter. In 1973 he moved to Malakwa, BC where he owned a motel and trailer park. Walter retired in 2000 and moved to Salmon Arm. Walter leaves to mourn his wife of 58 years Helen and 4 children, Ina Marie (Calgary), Irma M (Salmon Arm), Joe W (Fort St. John) & Robert (Patty) Calgary as well as seven grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life tea was held on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 2-5 at the Senior’s Centre on 5th Ave.

Memorial donations in Walter’s name may be made to the BC or Alberta Children’s Hospital.
