OSHANEK, WALTER

April 27, 1925 - December 22, 2008

Walter passed away peacefully on December 22, 2008 in Salmon Arm, BC, surrounded by his family. Missing him is his wife of 58 years, Sophie (nee Blahut), his six children and their families: David, Dennis (Lorell), Sandra (Harry), Cheryl (companion Tom), Daryl (Clemence), Margo (Harvey) and twelve grandchildren; Michael, Dan (Laura), Jesse (Kyla), Petra, Nikolas, Tara, Kyle, Clara, Mia (fiancée Kevin), Dominique, Alana and Russell. Walter is also survived by his brother Bill and six sisters; Eunice, Margaret, Doris, Frances, Esther, Violet (Dan). He was predeceased by his parents George and Anne as well as a granddaughter Betty Lou.

Walter married Sophie in Yorkton in 1950. He helped raise his children in Yorkton, St. Joseph’s Colony and Bagonie, SK before retiring to Sicamous in 1981 where he enjoyed gardening, wine making, his coffee buddies and card playing friends.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Stacy Kirkman, Dr. Main, Dr. Grieve as well as all the nurses and care givers on Level 2 and Bastion Place.

No service by request, cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Walter’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
