November 6, 2019
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of William (Bill) Hugh Metz. Bill passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on November 6, 2019 in Salmon Arm, B.C. at 90 years of age.
He is survived by his partner Marg Nelson, son Gary, daughter-in-law Donna, daughters Cheryl and Joanne, son-in-law Gary Chilibeck, as well as his grandchildren, Laura (Todd), Emily (Erin), Julia (Rob), Michael, Katie, Ian and Grae, and great-grandchildren Caleb, Tristan, Patrick, Devon and Eli.
Bill was pre-deceased by his wife Stella, daughter Wendy and son Rick.
Bill was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on July 6th, 1929. As a teenager, he began his career working for the CP Railway as a telegraph delivery boy in Moose Jaw and continued to work in various jobs with CPR and CP Telecommunications in Nelson, Cranbrook, Duncan, Vancouver and Victoria. Bill retired in 1986 and moved, with his wife Stella, to Sorrento. He eventually settled in Salmon Arm.
Bill loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a talented athlete and over the years he played various sports including hockey, bowling, golf, pool and curling. Bill was an avid fisherman who loved to spend time on the water. He was actively involved with his children's hockey, soccer and football teams as they were growing up. Bill loved spending time with his family and friends whenever he had the opportunity.
We would especially like to thank Dr. Bonthuys for his wonderful care and attention to Dad over the years and to the Interior Health Palliative Care team who were so wonderful during Dad's final few days.
Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him!
