Climate change spun by special interests

Apparently Anne Morris (letter, Shuswap Market News, Jan. 20) has a preferable source of information regarding climate change.

Mr. Mayes stated the Canadian situation quite clearly when he said “....the whole argument around greenhouse gas emissions....”

The billions of dollars spent annually on this ‘end game’ is not unlike the Y2K fraud and is being perpetrated primarily by tenured special interest groups such as the International Panel on Climate Change. Furthermore, the U.S. National Academy of Sciences has been “speaking with forked tongue” for decades, while never being held accountable.

To quote Morris; “The world has a small window of four or five years....” is akin to the doomsday prophets that the world will end this October.

The Kyoto Protocol was not an international agreement, and obviously, there was nothing ‘binding’ about the targets. It was simply offhand political posturing by former PM Jean Chrétien. Speaking of the world, 75 to 150 years of climate tracking is minutiae relative to 6,000 years of history. Let’s not forget that the biased science community was trying to scare us all about the coming ice age a mere 35 years ago. Further quoting Ms. Morris; “For the security of Canadians and the world...” seems like a lot of leverage to carry for Canadians who are a mere fraction of the world population.

I think the people of Canada will reflect with some common sense rather than blindly following a certain special-interest group that has a history of more errors than true operational science.
