Cut bureaucracy, apply money to education

I see the current strike as two or three issues. Salary, class size, and special needs assistants.

We must stop the current animosity of bargaining between teachers and the government. I believe funding should be federally mandated on an equal playing field, which include basics standards.

There is no way funding should be at the mercy of provincial leaders, especially Christy Clark.

A teacher cannot teach effectively if the class is large, with special needs children, including challenging the gifted. When these kids go off the rails, they often become dependent on society, which can go on for generations. I am sad the Storefront programs were scrapped.

I know government says there’s no money. Find it, take it off the top. Cut bureaucracy at provincial and federal levels.

Let’s settle this mess and look after our children who, given the chance, will create wealth.

As a retired medical technologist, may I advocate federal long- term planning and visioning. We need a change in governance.
