Off-shore drilling issue needs attention

…our irreplaceable shoreline and ocean are at risk because of Harper’s decision to grant Shell permission to drill

Our environment, more specifically, our irreplaceable shoreline and ocean are at risk because of Harper’s decision to grant Shell permission to drill for oil off the Coast of Nova Scotia. The drilling location sits right amongst the world’s largest colony of grey seals.

Shell’s application is devastatingly risky, giving them 21 days before they are required to cap a blowout! Shell’s emergency equipment would be located in Norway and South Africa, a whopping 5,000-kilometres away, all so they can save a few pennies!

Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board is left with the final decision to approve this application. We may be lost for any hope of this application being denied because it is known the Conservative government has appointed Douglas Gregory, a long time Shell executive, to the CNSOPD.

We need to put the pressure onto the CNSOPD to reject this application – it puts way too much risk on our coast.

Please help me bring awareness of this risky application to our community in hopes that together we can put enough pressure onto the CNSOPD to reject this application.
