Road priorities confusing

After reading the last couple of letters regarding the road conditions on the Shuswap Country Estates and Tappen Notch Hill road I had to smile to myself as I have been dealing with road issues for over 20 years.

After resurfacing Hwy 446 from Squilax to the park for the third time (yellow brick road for the tourists) our government is finally getting around to doing the rest of the road.

Too late, it is already falling into the lake. I wonder if the 2.5 million includes repairing the road bed, I doubt it.

I was also informed before the new Adams River bridge was built that the Scotch Creek bridge was in more disrepair (rotten).

But the big salmon run was coming so that bridge was replaced. Again for the tourists.

When it comes to painting lines it seems every time they do it another passing opportunity is painted over with double solid lines. We lost another one two weeks ago.

Our government has also been arbitrarily reducing the speed limits on sections of Hwy 446 after having been lobbied by special interest groups without any public consultations.

I would think that the majority of the motoring public don’t want any more restrictions on this road.

I think that Mr. Sytnyk is going to learn that walls don’t answer.

It would be nice if the districts priority list was made public.
