Sturgis North a victim of discrimination

There has been much debate over Sturgis North over the last six months.

The event is estimated to be a 30,000 person event,  last year the Roots & Blues was a 32,000 person event (as memory serves me).

My big concern is the discrimination involved.

As I understand, Sturgis North is being billed $50,000 for policing costs, is the Roots & Blues billed an equivalent sum? If Salmon Arm is going to allow events of this size to be held here they have to have the same set of rules for all events.

If people do not want a 30,000- person biker event, then the Roots & Blues festival should be shut down next year as well, as it is a similar-sized event.

Sorry, fair is fair, the same rules should apply across the board.

Editor’s note: Sturgis North is not being billed $50,000, but has offered to pay $40,000 towards policing costs for the event. A bylaw is in the works for the city to recover policing costs associated with large-scale events.
