Chase Heat claim road win

On Friday, Jan. 10 the locals squeaked out a victory over the Columbia Valley Rockies in Invermere.

The Chase Heat Junior Hockey Team left town for three games in the east and came home with sun-burned necks from the red light flashing goals for the opposition.

On Friday, Jan. 10 the locals squeaked out a victory over the Columbia Valley Rockies in Invermere. Two late third-period tallies resulted in a 4 to 3 win. Kevin Leschuk, Mackenzie Guardiero, Alexander Awuy and Ethan Kalugin put the biscuit in the basket while Jake Mattes went the distance in goal.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, the Heat went down to a 6 to 1 defeat in Golden versus the Rockets. Leschuk got the lone marker for Chase.

On Sunday, Jan. 22,  an afternoon game in Revelstoke against the Grizzlies was a total blow-out by the hosts. The end result was a 15 to 2 loss. Owen Barker and Dominick Hodges scored for the Heat with Mattes and Russell Sanderson sharing the opportunity in goal to get no assistance from their teammates.

This Saturday, Jan. 28, the Heat take on the Kamloops Storm at McArthur Island Sports Plex. It should be a barn burner as these two teams have no love or like for each other.
