In the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League, teams played at MacDonald Park in Vernon on Sept. 24.

In the U14 Boys versus Mountain FC, Thompson Okanagan Football Club had the better of the first half. Powerful wing play from Ben New of Tappen and Nick Klymchuk of Vernon was rewarded with a brilliant goal from 25 yards by Klymchuk. Although TOFC was leading at the half, they eventually fell 3-1.

In the U16 Boys contest, TOFC faced the formidable Mountain United squad, which includes many BC Provincial team members. Part way through the second half, the score was 2-1 for the United team, but a strong initial run by right midfielder Ayo Fashanu of Kelowna cracked Mountain’s back line.

Then forward Isaac Walton of Salmon Arm broke through and finished with a low shot past the keeper. The hope of a tie was dashed with two minutes remaining: a hand ball in the 18-yard-box was called against TOFC, a penalty kick was awarded and the final score was 3-2.
