Ten teams consisting of about 150 kids ages 9 to 11 took to the fields at Klahani Park last weekend for the 2023 11U Johnston Memorial Tournament.

Teams from Salmon Arm, Sorrento, Chase, Revelstoke and Enderby competed.

It was a scorcher of a weekend and the baseball was just as hot! After four games each over three days, four teams were off to the semi finals where Salmon Arm Lime took on Salmon Arm Red and Sorrento took on Chase 2. After two close fun games, Salmon Arm Lime bested Salmon Arm Red 9-8, and Sorrento defeated Chase 2 9-8.

Salmon Arm Lime and Sorrento faced off in the finals. These two teams battled hard, throwing strikes, hitting the ball hard and making some great plays in the infield and outfield. After six fun-filled innings, it was Salmon Arm Lime 6 and Sorrento 4.

Salmon Arm Lime was awarded the gold medals and title of 2023 11U Johnston Memorial Champions.

This weekend it’s the 13U division’s turn when 10 teams from Salmon Arm, Penticton, Prince George and Kelowna will battle it out at Klahani Park. Come out and cheer on your favorite team!
