The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have three weeks to regroup and ready for regular season play following an underwhelming exhibition run.
Following a 3-2 home-ice win versus the Trail Smoke Eaters on Sept. 8, the Silvebacks' second game of exhibition play was on Tuesday, Sept. 10, when the team hosted the Vernon Vipers at Salmon Arm's Rogers Rink. First period saw both teams pick up a few two-minute penalties, but neither was able to light up the board.
Early in the second frame, the Vipers' Carson McGinley potted the game's first goal, assisted by Luke Bibby. Both Salmon Arm and Vernon players racked up more time in the sin bin, though neither team could capitalize on the power plays.
Third period saw the Vipers add two more goals to their tally, including a power-play marker from Lukas McLoskey.
The game concluded with the 'Backs being shut out. Salmon Arm goalie Ryan Grout stopped 20 shots on net.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, the Silverbacks were at the South Okanagan Events Centre where they wound up on the losing end of a 6-0 tally versus the Penticton Vees. Grout stopped 38 shots on net.
Exhibition action for the 'Backs concluded at Royal LePage Place where they were shutout 2-0 by the West Kelowna Warriors. In the Salmon Arm's net for this game was Andrew Ballantyne, who stopped 26 shots.
