The Salmon Arm SilverBacks have announced the hiring of Dan Cioffi as the club’s associate coach for the 2011-12 season.

Cioffi joins the ’Backs from the Delta Ice Hawks in the PIJHL where he was the co-coach and director of player development.

Prior to his time in Delta, he spent three seasons behind the bench with the Burnaby Express as the club’s associate coach and director of player development.

“We are excited to add Dan to the coaching staff here in Salmon Arm. I have known Dan for some time and am very pleased with what he brings to our group,” stated head coach/general manager Colin O’Hara.

“I’m very excited to work for an organization with such a rich history in developing players for the next level. I want to thank our owners Randy and Terry Williams and Coach O’Hara for the opportunity to be part of the staff in Salmon Arm,” said Cioffi.

In other SilverBacks news, the Junior A Langley Rivermen have traded one of their veterans, Kody Dhaliwal, to the Salmon Arm team.

Dhaliwal played for the Langley franchise for three seasons, tallying 12 goals and 25 assists as a forward in 113 games.

The BCHL franchise in Langley was known as the Chiefs for the past five years but was renamed after being sold. The Rivermen begin their first season in September.

Dhaliwal was traded for future considerations.
