Salmon Arm Sockeyes break most meet records

The Salmon Arm Sockeyes broke eight of 10 meet records in Golden on the weekend. The boys team came second behind the host team and the girls team came third. Many aggregates were won, meaning swimmers were top three overall in their age category.

The Salmon Arm Sockeyes broke eight of 10 meet records in Golden on the weekend. The boys team came second behind the host team and the girls team came third. Many aggregates were won, meaning swimmers were top three overall in their age category.

Keeya Corbett won every event in division-one girls, earning her the gold aggregate. Julianne Moore came second in every division-one girls event, earning her the silver aggregate. Connor Levins won the division-one boys silver aggregate, while Eric Moore took home bronze. Chantell Jeffrey took home the silver aggregate in division-two girls, as well as breaking four meet records. Aria Izik-Dzurko swam her way to the bronze division-two girls aggregate. Stephen Moore took home the gold aggregate in division-two boys, while teammate Jaeden Izik-Dzurko also took home gold in division three. Matt Cooper swam to the division-three boys silver aggregate, while Matthew Nesdoly earned bronze. Nesdoly also took home the meet record in 50-metre backstroke. Alexander Corbett was the gold aggregate winner for division-four boys.  Abbie Nesdoly earned the silver aggregate in division five, with teammate and sibling Natajsha Nesdoly earning silver in division six. Brayden Gilliam swam his way to a silver aggregate, and broke records in the 50-m and 100-m butterfly.

The division-two girls relay team smashed the record by 18 seconds. Making up the team was Chantel Jeffrey, Keeya Corbett, Emma Levins and Aria Izik-Dzurko.

Kennedy Novakowski had a strong meet, with a handful of best times. Gaelyn Gilliam had five fourth-place finishes making him next in line for the division- three boys podium. Ben Novakowski had an excellent backstroke race and helped his relay team to first place.
