The Salmon Arm Hockey School (SAHS) hosts the first round of their Shaw Centre Challenge Rec Hockey Tournament this weekend from March 23-25 at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm.

SAHS organizes five separate spring and summer tournaments throughout the year at the Shaw Centre, inviting local recreational hockey players to form teams and hit the ice for some friendly competition and a chance at a prize. The tournaments are geared towards adult players, with a 19 and older age restriction. The SAHS rec hockey tournaments are focused on friendly competition, with no bodychecking or excessive slapshots allowed.

In addition to the first two tournaments held in March and April, there are two Oldtimers tournaments focused on players between 40-50 years old, and an over 60 tournament. There is also an all-female tournament in August, as well as a co-ed mixed team tournament.

The first Shaw Centre Challenge features games on both rinks at the Shaw Centre March 24-25 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., spectators are welcome to come out and enjoy the competition.

Information on upcoming tournaments, including registration details, can be found at www.salmonarmhockeytournaments.ca.
