Shuswap Icebreakers enjoy a sweetheart of a tournament

In Novice Ringette action, Icebreakers nearly take three straight

At the annual Sweetheart tournament last weekend, the Shuswap Icebreakers tallied three wins and a close loss in Novice Ringette action.

Friday saw them face Fraser Valley Fire. Goals for Shuswap in the first period came from Ewan Runciman (2) and Chloe Latosky.  In the second Shuswap outscored the Fire 7-3 in the second period to take the game by a 10-9 final. Jordan Turner earned a hat trick, Teagan Findlay a single, Ashley Bitz a pair, and Runciman finished off a hat trick of his own.

The Icebreakers won both games Saturday, starting out with a 10-6 win over host Kelowna and finishing with a 7-5 victory over Westside. Goals in Game 1 came from Latosky (2), Runciman (3), Turner (2), Hannah Patterson, Bitz and Mikaela Curdyk. Scoring for the Icebreakers in game 2 were Turner (2), Runciman (2), Bitz (2) and Cadence Petitclerc-Crosby.

In Sunday’s tight contest versus the Vernon Blue Lightning, the Lightning claimed an 11-10 win. Scoring were Turner, Madeline Lucier, Bitz (2), Petitclerc-Crosby (3), Runciman (2) and Kylynn Rosenburg.
