Skookum Cycle & Ski’s annual Warren Miller Film event, Here, There, & Everywhere, kicks off the ski season on Nov. 11 at the Salmar Classic. Tickets are still available at Skookum Cycle and Ski. Proceeds support the Larch Hills Junior Ski Team. The annual event sells out, so get your tickets soon.

Cycle time

Cyclocross season is here. Mark your calenders for Sunday, Nov. 13 for the fourth annual Shuswap Cross Cyclocross Race. This year, Salmon Arm is hosting the season’s wrap-up event. For more information, visit http://bcinteriorcross.ca.

Shuswap girls volleyball

The Shuswap Middle School Grade 8 girls volleyball team claimed first place at the district finals on Monday, Nov. 7. The win seals home- court advantage for Shuswap as they host the North Zone championships next Monday.

Redmond makes positive start

Getting the first two starts of his NCAA career, former ’Backs goaltender Angus Redmond showed he was more than equal to the task.

The Silverbacks alum won both games, including a shutout, as Michigan Tech swept a weekend home-and-home series against rival Northern Michigan.

Redmond wound up with 48 saves on 49 shots for a .980 save percentage. At one point on the weekend, he went 100 minutes and 10 seconds without allowing a goal.

Banff Film Fest returns

The much-anticipated Banff Mountain Film Festival is making a return to the Shuswap. The festival is supported by Shuswap Search and Rescue, for two nights at the Salmar Classic from Nov. 19 to 20. Tickets are at Wearabouts.
