The first half of Ted United vs NOU on July 16 showed United using the field well. United’s wingers received great build-up passes from defenders Heather Rolin and Krista Yonker enabling United to get a goal in the first five minutes of play. NOU was able to answer back with a goal of their own but from there on it was all United. Two more quick goals gave United a comfortable lead. Linda Yawney made an amazing save on a NOU breakaway to keep the score at one for the opposing team. One more key save was made for United, this time by defender Brier Cadden making a goal line toe save, much to the frustration of NOU. Referee Kevin Harrison showed great composure in addressing an overly assertive NOU coach, having to stop the game until the coach left the field. Once play resumed, United found the net once more with Tricia Martin firing a cracker of a shot just off the 18-yard mark. The final score 4-1.
