A celebration is planned for the start of the 100-day countdown to the Salmon Arm 55+ BC Games.
As is tradition with the Games, a torch lighting ceremony will take place roughly 100 days in advance of the Games scheduled to take place Sept. 10 to 14.
The ceremony starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 7 at Salmon Arm’s Marine Peace Park.
The occasion will include talks by local dignitaries, music from the Salmon Arm Community Band, with Andrea Bajova singing O Canada and dance demonstrations by Just for Kicks.
Torchbearers selected for the event include Salmon Arm’s Ralph Owens and Lois Angle.
The June 7 event is free and all are welcome to join in the celebration. For more information, visit 55plusbcgames.org.
