Brotherly success: Taylor and Ethan Trotter are heading to the provincial championships in Kamloops this weekend with their junior lacrosse squad

Taylor and Ethan Trotter are heading to the provincials – and beyond.

The brothers, who play junior lacrosse for the Kelowna Raiders, have enjoyed a successful season with Taylor wearing #91 and Ethan #29.

With the best league record of 13 and 2, the Raiders earned a first-round bye in the playoffs.

They then knocked out the Vernon Tigers in a best- of-three series. The series went down to the wire with the Raiders winning game three.

The Raiders team boasts some of the best offence seen in the league as well as the toughest defence.

Both Taylor and Ethan play major roles on defence, with Taylor dominating faceoffs.

Both boys started their minor lacrosse in Salmon Arm and played a few years for the Armstrong Shamrocks before going to the Raiders. Since that move, they have never looked back.

On Sunday the brothers wrapped up a five-game series against the Kamloops Venom for the 2011 league championship.

Kelowna won the championship in game four.

Although the Raiders were down the first game, they came back to win the next three. Both teams will advance to the provincials which are being held in Kamloops on July 28-31, with Kamloops the host team.

The commitment needed to play with Kelowna while living in Salmon Arm has been great, and has not gone unnoticed by the Kelowna coaches.

With this being Taylor’s last year and Ethan moving on to a junior A Alberta league next year, the brothers need no extra motivation from here on.

Both Taylor and Ethan have given back to Salmon Arm minor lacrosse by refereeing when asked.
