The first few boaters already on the water might encounter some delays while crossing between Mara and Shuswap lakes.

In an April 19 press release, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District announced a possible disruption of boat traffic at the Sicamous Narrows next week as “work is being done to string fibre optic cable across the waterway.”

“The project is being conducted by Arctic Arrow Powerline Group, which will be out in the area, including on the water, stringing the cable,” adds the release.

Work will take place between Monday, April 22, and Thursday, April 25, but arrangements are being made with the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue if any emergency boat response is needed during that time.
