Celebrating ourselves

OK, relax men.

Ads offensive

I won’t be voting for Colin Mayes after the tasteless, sleazy, attack ads his Conservative Party has been running.

Better ways than HST to spread the wealth

Regulations cause confusion

I wish to express my frustration re: new city garbage and recycling systems. As children of the Great Depression, we are very aware regarding recycling, and have practised it for many years. We so appreciated the 20 years of service received from Cheap Garbage, a small, longtime local business who looked after our refuse, including small yard refuse. There are so many rules and regulations, and so many items which don’t qualify for pick-up. Requiring garbage only, but out by 5 a.m. for 7 a.m.

Sturgis North to boost economy

Bring it on! Having a motorcycle rally in the image of Sturgis, South Dakota’s world-famous annual event, would be an economic feather in the Shuswap’s cap. The hysteria applied to the idea is just that, hysteria, and has no foundation in the attraction which has been celebrated in the sleepy Black Hills town of Sturgis, SD, population less than 7,000, since 1938. This year will be their 71st occasion.

Information access needs tune up

The rusty machination that serves as this country’s woeful freedom of information system isn’t issue enough to get Canadians rushing to the polls. But voters will turn out if they get a sense government is being dishonest with the public.

Curbside collection creates hazard

I strongly protest against the city implementation of curbside garbage and recycling. We live in a beautiful pristine suburb where birds and wildlife abound, and that is the root of the problem. Garbage bags are lying along the roadside for hours and crows are pecking at them scattering the garbage all over the road. We have never had a litter problem in Salmon Arm but this is out of control.

Books can spell success

To me, books are like friends.

Seniors struggle to comply with recycling program

I do hope you can find a space to print my letter.

Harper’s government offers stability

Tours, ads and memos could be an indication of an imminent federal election.
