There’s more to colour at one of Salmon Arm’s newest beauty salons.
The Colored Strand Hair Company owner Nickayla Wrenko opened her own salon in the lower level of the Old Courthouse last year.
Trained in a variety of hair-cutting and styling methods in Alberta, Wrenko worked in another Salmon Arm salon for five years before stepping out on her own.
Chief among Wrenko’s reasons for establishing her own business was a desire to use healthy products, a consideration she considers to be important for herself and her clients.
And, she laughs, “I always wanted to do my own thing.”
All the products used in The Colored Strand are vegetable-based and paraben-free treatments for hair and body.
“Kevin Murphy is a vegan line that is paraben and sulphate free, and based on essential oils,” says Wrenko.
“Davines is a line that cannot be classified as 100 per cent organic because of air pollution, but is as close to natural as possible.”
The company’s colour line is based on soy milk, rice and protein, and Spa Ritual, the salon’s spa line, features organic and vegan lotions and tonics.
“We will offer you the best styles, trends or your favourite style you had from your last visit,” promises Wrenko in her brochure, noting the goal of salon staff is to have a team of professionals who provide a positive experience for their clients in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The Colored Strand provided colour, cuts, foils, colour correction, all waxing services and specialized pedicures.
The salon is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 250-517-8216 or visit www.coloredstrand.ca.
