Salmon Arm chamber seeks 10-year city business plan

President Jim Kimmerly writes that the board strongly urges the city to initiate such a plan.

The Salmon Arm Chamber of Commerce would like to see the city initiate a 10-year business development plan.

In a Jan. 31 letter to the city, president Jim Kimmerly writes that the board strongly urges the city to initiate such a plan “that is designed to help stimulate the local economy, attract new business to the area and increase employment opportunities.”

The chamber suggests a number of organizations should be the core of the  proposed planning group, including the city, the economic development society, the chamber, Downtown Salmon Arm, Community Futures, Shuswap Construction Industry Professionals, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, area First Nations and CASSSA, the Committee for a Strong Sustainable Salmon Arm.

“There is a tremendous opportunity for Salmon Arm to form its own economic future, but it all starts with a plan,” states the letter from the chamber.
