On Saturday, April 30, the Chase Rotary Club partnered with the Chase Hamper Society and blitzed the community for their Semi-Annual Rotary Food Drive.

Chase was divided into five areas of focus and, thanks to community supporters who placed their Bags of Help near their front porch, Rotarians were able to collect a bounty of food.

All the food collected stays in Chase to help feed neighbours and friends.

The Chase Rotary Club was able to “piggy-back”with the Kamloops club’s food drive, with the Kamloops club providing collection bags and advertising.

Next Fall, the Salmon Arm Rotary Clubs are organizing to include their community in this worthwhile program and assist their two food banks with Bags of Help.

In Chase, the three First Nations bands are also participating, collecting Bags of Help and on the second week of May. A Rotarian will visit each band office to pick up and deliver the yellow bags to the Chase Hamper Society.

Also, Peoples Food and Drugs and Safety Mart Foods have bins near their exits year round to help the Hamper Society collect food. Those who were missed during the blitz, or forgot  to contribute, can drop off their yellow bags at either store.
