As one step towards Truth and Reconciliation, the Village of Keremeos and Lower Similkameen Indian Band will be unveiling their Every Child Matters Crosswalk on July 17.

The orange crosswalk will be located between Memorial Park and the village offices.

The community is invited to come to the 9 a.m. unveiling for a ceremony, as well as an opportunity to learn about the background of the crosswalk and the last impacts of the residential school system.

The crosswalk is just one of the projects the village and council are undertaking as part of reconciliation initiatives, which were added to the budget in 2023 and will be ongoing.
