British Columbia Wildlife Foundations’ Wetlandkeepers Courses are coming to Chase

British Columbia Wildlife Foundations’ Wetlandkeepers Courses are coming to Chase and will be providing participants with two-and-a-half day workshops that educate participants about wetland conservation.

Responding to a community request, BCWF is bringing the Wetlandkeepers Course to the area, and is set to cover topics of interest to community stewardship groups.

Some of these topics may include wetland mapping, wetland hydrology, plant identification, soil sampling, wetland bird surveying (yet to be confirmed) and shoreline wetland protection, which is also awaiting confirmation.

This is a hands-on fieldwork course that provides participants with technical skills to steward their own wetland. Upon completion of the workshop participants are provided with a Wetlandkeeper certificate and follow-up support by the Wetlands co-ordinator.

This course is normally valued at $100, but will be offered to interested participants for free.

Workshops will be held at the Chase & District Fish and Game Club House from May 10 to 12.

Friday’s workshops are set to begin at 6 p.m. and will continue until 9 p.m.; Saturday’s events will be held at 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.; and Sundays courses will take place at 9 a.m. and carry through until 4 p.m.
