Golfers raise funds for OR upgrades

The second annual Shuswap Hospital Foundation Charity Open raised over $70,000.

The second annual Shuswap Hospital Foundation Charity Open raised over $70,000.

Presented by Shuswap Lake Estates Golf and Country Club and Askew’s Foods, and held at the Shuswap Lake Estates Golf Course, Aug. 27, the  funds raised will go towards operating room equipment upgrades at Shuswap Lake General Hospital.

The rainy weather was kept at bay except for a few short showers, after which the participants enjoyed a sunny afternoon on the golf course at Shuswap Lake Estates Golf and Country Club.

“We are extremely grateful to Shuswap Lake Estates Golf and Country Club and Askew’s Foods for their generous support and assistance in making this event another major success.

Our thanks also go to the organizing committee led by board directors Rick Hirtle and Dave Barnard as well as the over 115 donors who helped make both the silent and live auctions so successful.

“Our gratitude also goes to our amazing sponsors for their support and to the hardworking-volunteers who assisted in making this a great event for our participants to enjoy,” said president of the board of the Shuswap Hospital Foundation Doug Murray.

The winner of the men’s low gross was Justin Pouleau, men’s second low was Brian Duquette and third low was Jessie Stark.

The winner of the women’s low gross was Rikki Erickson. second low was Dr. Mariejie du Plessie and third low was Susan Graham.

A number of the winners donated their prizes back to the Foundation and they were auctioned to add to the funds.
