Help put bright face on South Shuswap

Volunteers are needed to help clean up the Notch Hill Heritage Cemetery on Saturday, May 4.

Volunteers are needed to help clean up the Notch Hill Heritage Cemetery on Saturday, May 4.

Whether you can invest an entire morning, or even an hour, your help is needed at cemetery on Hilltop Road.

Volunteers will conduct a general clean-up of the area, including the weeding and raking of Memorial Garden.

The clean-up is set to begin around 9 a.m. and volunteers are asked to bring a rake and some enthusiasm along with them.

With some graves marked as early as 1903, this site is a part of Notch Hill’s growing history and the work of volunteers is an essential part of keeping it alive.

Volunteers are also being sought to help beautify Sorrento and the surrounding community.

All helpers are asked to meet in downtown Sorrento, Thursday, May 16 to plant some geraniums and marigolds in some of the community’s planter pots.

The work is not labour-intensive, and is set to begin at 9 a.m. Organizers are expecting the work to be completed in an hour – if enough volunteers show up to help.

Those who wish to help out are asked to bring along a trowel, and be prepared to have a little fun.
