Hambleton Galleries in Kelowna is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a free art show and fundraiser.
To celebrate six decades of dedication to the community, the gallery is hosting a winter art show on Dec. 2, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at its location on Ellis Street.
Hambleton Galleries first opened in 1963, making it one of the oldest fine art galleries in Canada. The gallery’s winter art show has been a staple in Kelowna’s community each winter since Hambleton opened and is now one of the longest-running art shows in Canadian history.
The event will feature live painting by Robert E. Wood, a third-generation Okanagan-based artist.
The anniversary celebration will include an all-artist exhibition showing new work from 34 artists. Sixteen of the featured artists are local to the Okanagan.
Hambleton Galleries embraces celebrating and uplifting all types of art from people of diverse backgrounds.
Clint Williams, a local Indigenous man who is experiencing unsheltered homelessness is one of the artists featured at the gallery. He has created a large new piece that will be displayed at the winter art show.
Williams is formerly trained and creates intricate pieces of Indigenous artwork that are on display and available for purchase at the gallery all year. He can often be seen creating artwork in Kelowna’s downtown area.

All people are invited to attend the event and enjoy the work of talented artists living in the Okanagan.
There will also be a charity raffle of paintings with proceeds being donated to the Central Okanagan Food Bank. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the event and Quails’ Gate Estate Winery will be hosting wine tastings.
