A Shuswap veteran is gathering community support, well on her way to a fundraising goal of $10,000.
In a week since the Observer’s first story with Angela Ayre, her fundraiser has surpassed the original goal of $2,803. This number was set as a marker for when Ayre would shave the side of her head and cut 10 inches of her hair off to donate to Chai Lifeline Canada, which accepts colour-treated hair to make wigs for those facing cancer and other illnesses.
As of Friday, Oct. 27, Angela’s fundraiser is at $3,904.
She and her teammate Lauralee Mills are working to raise $10,000 before May 9, 2024, as each participant of the fundraising race must donate $5,000 to qualify.
Ayre’s story and a link to donate can be found at the Battlefield Bike Ride’s website, bbrseries.ca by clicking donate then entering Angela Ayre’s name.
