Fixing its eyes and ears on the heavens to celebrate the holiday season, the AURA Chamber Choir presents two shows of Christmas carols.

From Heaven on High takes place Saturday Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m., at Trinity United Church.

The program starts with, There Shall a Star from Jacob Come Forth by Felix Mendelssohn and finishes with Fantasia on Christmas Carols by Ralph Vaughan Williams, featuring baritone Vince Walzak, cellist Laura McPheeters and the Wind Jammers Woodwind Quintet.

“Also included are sets of carols recounting angels, stars, birds, weather — all things that have come from Heaven at Christmas — with audience singalongs sprinkled in like fresh falling snow,” said AURA’s Johanna de Bruijn.

The Chamber also presents the W. L. Seaton Honour Choir under the direction of their award-winning teacher (and AURA member) Lana O’Brien.

“Get ready for some Gospel fireworks,” said de Bruijun, adding the Wind Jammerswill also be presenting a selection of classical favourites.

New to the Saturday show is a silent auction to help raise funds for the spring production of Bach’s St. John’s Passion.

“Let your Christmas season begin with heavenly music: From Heaven on High with AURA Chamber Choir,” said de Bruijn.
