July 13th marks the one-year anniversary of the passing of our beloved family member, Steve Shurma. Steve was born to Ann and Nick Shurma in the district of Albertown, Saskatchewan, in 1933. Once out of school, he started his life-time career with the Canadian National Railway. After retiring in 1981, he moved to Canoe, B.C., and continued his passion for growing. He spent countless hours with his fruit trees and cultivating his large vegetable garden. He developed a great love for cooking and canning and enjoyed the friendships the community offered. He cherished family visits, sharing gardening tips, and preparing meals for family and friends. He is survived by his partner Eileen; stepchildren Patricia (Sean) and Deryl; grandchildren Leigh Ann (Dan), Tessa, and Jordan; and great-grandchildren Bodhi, Harper, and Lucas; and sister Ollie (Leon). He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis, and parents, Nick and Ann Shurma.
