Festival of arts a success

The Shuswap Lake Festival of the Arts Committee says the 2016 Shuswap Lake Festival of the Arts at the Carlin Community Arts and Cultural Center, was a smashing success.

Now in it’s 33rd year, the festival drew 451 visitors who viewed the eclectic selection of art presented by the Shuswap’s artist and artisan community.

The 10 juror’s choice awards went to the following artists: Mella Ashenbrenner, Larry Bell, Janice Cleland, Rosalind Crocker, Sherry Kalloch, Ellie MacKenzie, Judy MacKenzie, Rae-Lynne Robertson, Rebecca Shepherd, and Shirley States.

The 2D People’s Choice Winner was Judy MacKenzie for ‘Deadman Creek Gold’ painting, while the 3D People’s Choice award went to Larry Bell for his ‘Segmented Diamond’ wood bowl.

On site art sales accounted for artists and artisans taking home their share of a total of nearly $4,000.

The committee says congratulations and a special thanks are due to everyone who entered a work of art to the festival, once again showing the Shuswap to be an active, vibrant, artist and artisan community capable of creating and sustaining a buzz within our region.
