Girl Guides celebrate Thinking Day

Thinking Day is to honour the birthdays of Guiding and Scouting founders Lord and Lady Baden Powell.

Girl Guides in Chase celebrated the Annual Thinking Day event on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the community hall.

Approximately 20 people attended the event, which included Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders, and leaders. Thinking Day is to honour the birthdays of Guiding and Scouting founders Lord and Lady Baden Powell.

Chase Girl Guides raised money for the Canadian World Friendship Fund. With a theme of Save Our Planet, the girls talked about the environment and recycling and what everyone can do to help out.

The girls made a paper chain, each link representing a guiding country or promise, and sang an action song. Subs, cookies and juice were enjoyed by everyone.

A craft called “Guide Girl” with colourful beads was made to pin on their camp hats.

The event closed with all the units singing their closing songs and each girl receiving a World Thinking Day crest.
