Tired to the bone, but loving his life, Jesse Mast was heading to a concert in Kamloops last week.

On hiatus from a cross-country tour with Gordon Bamford and Joe Nichols, Mast is still running in high gear and wasn’t able to stop in Salmon Arm this time.

But the talented western country artist and songwriter will play in concert at Shuswap Theatre on Saturday, June 11, with special guests and longtime friends Blu and Kelly Hopkins.

“I am stoked about it;  Kelly and Blu and I have talked about doing something for a while,” says Mast. “They’ve both been fantastic to me over the years I am really excited about it.

Mast will be playing as part of a trio with Jake McIntyre Paul and Taylor McKnight.

But there will be a lot more water under the bridge by June 11.

Mast will be back in the studio in Calgary for a week of recording, followed by a weeklong trip to Nashville before heading to Newfoundland to go back out on the Bamford tour again in May.

“It’s a pretty fantastic experience with Gord and Joe and being able to get up in front of those particular crowds was fantastic,” Mast says of the first leg of the tour that included five shows in Ontario and five in B.C.

There will be 15 more shows before the tour ends in late May. But that doesn’t mean Mast will be sitting down for long.

He is booking as many shows as possible in the summer after he plays to the hometown crowd in June.

“It’s always fun to come home,” he says. “It’s not every day you get to play for your hometown so I really enjoy it when I do.”

More details on the concert will appear here as they become available.
