Illegal drugs were seized by RCMP during a traffic stop in Malakwa.

On Thursday, March 21, officers with the BC Highway Patrol stopped a Jeep pickup truck on Oxbow Frontage Road.

“The driver, a 72-year-old resident of Malakwa, appeared nervous and he was instructed to exit the vehicle for a sobriety check. A small dime bag containing crack cocaine fell from the pocket of the driver as he exited,” said Sicamous RCMP Sgt. Murray McNeil in a media release.

The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and McNeil said two additional bags of crack cocaine were located by police.

The man was later released without charges while the drugs, which exceeded the decriminalized amount of 2.5 grams, were seized by the RCMP.
