On March 25, Salmon Arm RCMP received a report from an employee of a store on 10th Avenue SW who alleged a woman had entered his place of work and then the lunch room where she stole his wallet and cigarettes.

“The employee stated the woman was acting weird, attempted to buy merchandise using a The Bay card,” said Hodges. “The woman was pacing around the store near the lunchroom, while using a phone.”

After the woman left, Hodges said the employee noticed his wallet and cigarettes were gone. Patrolling officers were unable to find the woman, who was described as Caucasian, 5-feet tall and in her 40s, with blonde hair and what was described as a “snaggle tooth.”

“Due to lack of any other evidence to identify the woman, police were unable to further the investigation,” said Hodges, adding the man was able to cancel all his bank cards and obtain new ones.

Liquor theft

Surveillance footage assisted Salmon Arm RCMP in snagging a pair of shoplifters now facing charges.

On March 20, police said a man and a woman stole four bottles of alcohol from a liquor store on 11th Avenue NE.

“The incident was captured on surveillance video and police were able to identify both suspects from that footage,” said Const. Andrew Hodges in a media release. “Police are forwarding charges to B.C. Prosecution for charge assessment”

Tools taken

On March 27, Salmon Arm RCMP received a report from an employee of a 5th Street SW business. The employee said a man and woman had cut a gate open and “rummaged around the exterior parking area of the business.”

“Some unidentifiable tools were stolen and a Weider brand weightlifting belt,” said Hodges.

Video footage was provided; however, police were unable to identify the suspects.
