School District 83 is looking for area residents who have room in their homes and their hearts to host an international student.

The International Student Program (ISP) is preparing for the September 2024 intake, and is looking for active, caring and supportive families to introduce those kids to the Shuswap lifestyle.

“Students come to engage in our culture, activities and education anywhere from three to 10 months,” SD83 says on its Facebook page, adding that “the students are typically from Italy, Germany, Belgium, Spain and France.”

Homestay hosts will be paid $1,000 per month in remuneration, starting in September.

Anyone interested in being a host can complete the online application at www.isp.sd83.bc.ca. Any questions can be directed to the ISP team by email at isp@sd83.bc.ca, or by calling Sandra Rhodes at 250-253-4803.
