Snow is on the way to the North Okanagan and Shuswap.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning Saturday morning, Dec. 9., saying about 10 cm of snow is expected in the North Okanagan near Enderby and Lumby, the Shuswap and North Thompson.

The snow is expected to arrive around noon Saturday and continue to fly into the evening.

According to the weather agency, a frontal system is approaching from the Pacific Ocean which will spread snow to the B.C. Interior today. The snow, which is expected to be heavy at times, is expected this afternoon near Enderby, Lumby, Salmon Arm, Clearwater and Barriere. The snow will ease to a few flurries tonight.

Environment Canada warns that visibility may be suddenly reduced during heavy snow, and highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become hard to navigate.

“Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions,” Environment Canada said.

The temperature in Vernon is hovering around -2 C, with a wind chill of -8 C this afternoon.
