The victories are coming at the right time for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

The BCHL club is riding a six-game winning streak, after a weekend sweep of Penticton and Merritt.

Salmon Arm travelled to the South Okanagan Events Centre to take on the Vees on Saturday, March 23. The low-scoring affair saw just two goals in 60 minutes, both in the second period, from Salmon Arm’s Isaac Lambert and Penticton’s Max Heise.

The game would head to a shootout where Cole Cooksey would score the only goal, as the Silverbacks won, 2-1.

Eli Pulver was stellar in goal, stopping 42 of 43 shots for his 22nd win of the year.

The next night, Sunday, Salmon Arm was back at home to battle the Centennials from Merritt.

In a far cry from the previous game, 10 total goals were scored, including six in the second period.

Salmon Arm got goals from six different players, including two straight empty-netters from JJ Monteiro, in the 7-3 win.

Nathan Mackie, Ryan Gillespie, Cooksey and Cole Longacre each had a goal and an assist in the win, while Riley Ashe added two helpers and a goal.

Backup Ran Grout stood tall in between the pipes for his 11th victory of the season, making 28 stops.

The Silverbacks (33-16-0-3) are third in the Interior Conference, just four points up on fourth-ranked Vernon. Two games remain in the regular season, as Cranbrook and Trail come to the Shaw Centre on March 29 and 30.
