Police are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred on May 20 in the 900 Block of Chase-Falkland Road.
Chase RCMP say the cause of the fire has not been determined, but arson has not been ruled out.
On May 20 at 6:20 p.m., Chase RCMP received a report of the fire.
Investigating officers found the fire occurred on an empty property amongst a pile of logs and had already been put out.
Witnesses said the fire had first been spotted about 8 a.m., and it was called in at that time. A white pickup truck was seen leaving the property about 6:15 a.m.

Impaired
A 23-year-old Salmon Arm is without an ATV after being caught driving on a public road while impaired.
On May 20 at 10:20 p.m., a Chase RCMP officer on patrol in Seymour Arm conducted a traffic stop of an all-terrain vehicle being operated on a public roadway.
The 23-year-old driver from Salmon Arm, exhibited signs of impairment by alcohol, and further investigation resulted in a 90 day immediate roadside prohibition.
The side-by-side all-terrain vehicle was impounded and the driver was issued a violation ticket for no driver’s licence.
Checkstops
On May 20, at 7 p.m., Chase RCMP conducted a traffic Checkstop on Squilax-Anglemont Road near Scotch Creek.
Approximately 50 vehicles were checked, and no major infractions were noted by police.
At about 10 p.m., another checkstop was conducted in Anglemont, and about 10 vehicles were checked. No major infractions were found at this stop; however, one driver had a quantity of marijuana seized.
Due to the small quantity of the seizure, however, no charges were laid.
Shots fired
On May 21, at 3 p.m., police responded to a complaint of shots fired and an explosion in the 7500 block of Loakin-Bear Creek Road near Chase.
Investigating officers found a group of people camping in the woods who had been target shooting, and the explosion was produced by hitting a block of Tannerite, a target-practice explosive.
No damage occurred, and the group was done shooting for the day.
The shooters produced valid possession and acquisition licences.
Collision
On May 22, at about 6:20 p.m. Chase RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway One at Desfosses Road.
The single male driver, age 77, stated he was driving west on the Trans-Canada in his Cadillac and began having problems with the transmission, at which point he looked down at the gearshift causing him to hit a highway divider.
Alcohol was not a factor in the collision; however, police had received multiple complaints earlier in the day about erratic driving involving this vehicle, and the driver had been issued a warning.
Long weekend
It was an uneventful long weekend for the Chase RCMP. Cool, rainy weather dampened outdoor activities and the campgrounds reported no problems.
Due to issues last year, the Chase detachment maintained a presence in Seymour Arm throughout the weekend. But aside from one immediate roadside prohibition for impaired driving, there were no other issues.
