The BC Cancer Foundation is letting residents of Salmon Arm know door-to-door canvassers will be in the area soliciting donations.
The notice comes as multiple door-to-door scammers have targeted the Shuswap. RCMP have issued warnings of scammers looking to collect bail money for a relative in jail, CRA and business scams.
According to the foundation, for security and safety purposes, all canvassers wear ID badges and BC Cancer Foundation teal vests.
“BC Cancer Foundation canvassers will invite you to take part in our monthly giving program only and will not accept cash at the door. Once you have signed up for monthly giving, you will receive an email confirmation immediately,” reads a press release from the foundation.
Monthly donations go toward cancer research and innovations in patient care taking place at BC Cancer.
The BC Cancer Foundation is the fundraising partner of BC Cancer.
