The Salmar Classic Theatre is showing The Bad Mother Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. A large portion of the actors are from Creston and some of the movie was also shot in Creston, with the remainder of the film shot in the greater Toronto area.

The film was a sellout at the Hamilton Film Festival and also at the Tivoli Theatre in Creston.  Among its credits are the nomination for Best Picture and Best Actress at the Hamilton Film Festival and it also received the Picture Perfect Package award for Cinematography.

Film synopsis:

Tara is a mid-30’s woman struggling with leaving a rewarding career to raise kids. When her five-year-old her son accidentally posts a private rant she wrote about her husband’s evil workplace to the internet, Tara’s marriage and family must deal with the dizzying consequences.

Tara becomes a lightning rod for other women in the same boat, is thrust into a spotlight she never wanted, and forced to face her choices… or lack of.

Written by and starring Sarah Kapoor, directed and produced by David J. Fernandes and Sarah Kapoor, and shot by Director of Photography, Gregory P. Bennett.
