Car crashes into semi-truck in West Kelowna

Highway 97 heading northbound by Boucherie Rd. closed

UPDATE: 2 p.m., May 22

The driver of a red Nissan Altima sustained significant front-end damage after colliding with the rear of a Volvo tractor trailer in the northbound lanes of Highway 97, south of Boucherie Road, on Tuesday afternoon.

Kelowna RCMP have confirmed that the driver of the Nissan was medically assessed at the scene by BC Emergency Health Services and later transported to hospital as a precaution.

Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said the driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured.

Traffic has been slowed after a multi-vehicle collision in West Kelowna.

The crash happened early this afternoon northbound on Highway 97 and Boucherie Road.

Witnesses said a red vehicle hit a semi-truck. An ambulance has taken one of the drivers to hospital.

Both lanes are closed heading into Kelowna.
